Top softlights are essential when you want to create a natural, overhead light source—like soft daylight pouring in from above. The AIRGLOW^™ FLOAT is ideal for lighting tables, ensembles, or full scenes evenly from the top, without harsh shadows. It’s especially effective for cinematic setups that demand wraparound softness and control.

Traditional top softboxes are often rectangular, bulky, and slow to rig. They typically require complex rigging and suffer from significant upward spill, unless flagged.

In contrast, the AIRGLOW^™ FLOAT is:

• Round for even light distribution
• Inflatable and lightweight for fast setup and easy transport
• Designed with spill control in mind, thanks to optional blackout covers and adjustable skirts

All of this makes it faster to deploy and easier to shape than most conventional overhead softboxes.

• Round softboxes, like the AIRGLOW^™ FLOAT, create an evenly distributed, symmetrical light field—great for soft toplight with minimal edges or falloff.

• Rectangular softboxes offer more directional control and are often used when lighting horizontal or vertical subjects (e.g., full-body portraits or backdrops). Round shapes are particularly well-suited for floating top light setups that need consistent coverage across a space.

The AIRGLOW^™ FLOAT is available in three circular sizes:

• 4ft diameter
• 8ft diameter
• 12ft diameter

Each offers a different spread and intensity depending on your lighting needs and space.

You can choose from two bottom diffusion layers:

• Standard SNAPCLOTH^™
• Seamless SNAPCLOTH^™ (for completely uniform diffusion, no panel lines)

The AIRGLOW^™ FLOAT spill covers come in two configurations:

• Black-Black: maximum light control and spill prevention
• SNAPOUNCE: Black-White: for a softer internal bounce

The AIRGLOW^™ structure uses a dual-chamber system. This works similar to a car tire - with a durable outer tube and a removable inner tube. Once inflated, it can hold air for 4 weeks or longer without needing a refill. The outer layer is extremely robust, designed to withstand heavy on-set use.

If needed, the inflatable chambers can be easily repaired. The inner tube is accessible via multiple zippers and can be patched using a standard TPU repair kit (available on Amazon or in most outdoor gear shops). This makes maintenance quick and cost-effective on set or on the go.
